Minimalist Wedding Photography

I was recently asked by an old friend whether I would be interested in being the wedding photographer for their special day.

Those of you who have been following my photography projects will know that people are not exactly my subject of choice. Regardless, the couple were encouraging and confident - the request was accepted.

The day was exhausting but enjoyable. Despite the comparatively laid-back atmosphere of the wedding, it was quickly demonstrated the kind of pressures a wedding photographer has.

Weddings are all about moments, and every special moment needs to be captured. There is so much going on at any given time that you feel like you need eyes (and lenses) on the other side of your head.

The one moment that was given the greatest importance was the first look - when the groom saw the bride for the first time in the morning of the wedding. It was a cloudy day at Mordialloc Pier, but the dull skies did not detract from the radiant couple, their families and the bridal party.

Check out some snaps from the day below, with a little tinge of my penchant for the clean and minimalist.
